Doctor Dyed Pink!
Send-off in “ Good Old Hospital Way” “WHOOPEE” PARTY INQUIRED INTO United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 8 p.m. SYDNEY, March 19. The public inquiry into . happenings at tho Royal South Sydney Hospital bn the morning of February ill was continued to-day.
Dr. Hugh Hambrett gave evidence that, on the night of the “whoopee” party, he went to bed feeling very ill. Two medical colleagues dragged him to the dispensary, painted him with a pink dye and placed him under a mosquito net. Ho offered no resistance owing to the overwhelming force against him. Campbell Bland, a medical student, gave evidence that he and Drs. Gift and Rutland took off Dr. Hambrett's pyjamas, applied a dye and placed n mosquito net, over him, giving him the appearance of % bride.
Edward Ryan, medical superintendent of the hospital, stated that the whole object was to give Dr. Hambrett a send-off in the “good old hospital way.” Dr. Ryan denied that he or his two colleagues were drunk, and saic there was no suggestion that tho hospital’s welfare had been jeopardised. The hearing was adjourned.
