To Open Art Show
DUCHESS’ FIRST ENGAGEMENT.
One of the first public engagements of the Duchess of Kent will be to open a Russian art exhibition to be held in London, toward tho end of May. Tho Duchess has a special family interest in (lie exhibition, as her brother-in-law, (he Prince Regent of Yugoslavia, is on the committee. The exhibition is to be held at the house of Madame Koch dc Gooroynd, which is only a few steps away from 11, Bclgravo square, the Duchess’ London home.
The Queen is .lending a large number or. her treasures of Russian art, including ikons, silver and enamel bowls and lamps, pictures and embroideries. Prince Nicholas will also probably lend examples of Russian art, and treasures will be sent from all parts of Europe. When the Duchess of Kent begins to plan menus in her own home, she will find that her husband’s tastes are simple and in some ways unusual. Grilled lamb cutlets, followed by fruit salad and China tea instead of coffee, at the iate hour of 2 or 2.15, is one of the Duke's favourite luncheons.
