The Daily Mail's Brest correspondent says that Lydia Oswald, a blonde bcauly and an accomplished linguist, was arrested on a" charge of espionage. She confessed to the polico that she went to Brest for the purpose of captivating Count do Forcevillc, an officer of the newest cruiser, La Gulissonnierc, in order to obtain for a foreign Bower secrets of the cr-uiser's construction, but fell in love with her chosen victim.
She said she was paid money for this mission, but she loved him so dcsporately that she could not carry on with the scheme.
The pair were arrested when on their way to Paris. De Forcevillc says he will marry Lydia.
