War Enthusiasm in Italy
FASCIST MILITIA SAIL FOR AFRICA United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON, Feb. 17. The British United Press correspondent at Naples says that a thousand Fascist militia sailed for East Africa, fully equipped for colonial warfare, with suitable uniforms. Crowds cheered from the quayside. The troops reviewed by Signor Mussolini at Rome are sailing later. Thousands of volunteers Received Monday, 11.20 p.m. ROME, Feb. IS. There were scenes of tremendous enthusiasm throughout the day at Rome when the 1911 class were called up. Parents and friends accompanied each batch of arrivals at the railway station.
Mussolini informed the Fascist Grand Council that 70,000 Black Shirts had volunteered for service in Africa and also revealed that a Blackshirt battalion had sailed from Naples on February 10 and will reinforce the garrison at Erifrea.
