Wiley Post, testing the “stratosphere plane” with which his world famous Winnie Mae is specially equipped for high altitude flying, reached a speed of 300 miles an hour to-day at an altitude of live miles. Within a few days (perhaps to-morrow) Post expects to start his' cross-continental non-slop flight to New York maintaining an altitude of over five miles. He hopes to complete the trip in less than seven hours. DELAYS FOR MALCOLM CAMPBELL Received Monday, 7 p.m. DAYTONA BEACH, Feb. 17. Rain, shifting winds and sluggish tides to-day failed to improve the beach conditions. Sir Malcolm Campbell said that unless conditions improve swiftly ho was afraid it was going to be March before he could make runs. AIRMEN WHO TURNED BACK LONDON, Feb. 17. The French airmen, Codos and Rossi, who were forced to turn back on their flight to Rio de Janiero owing to a leakage of oil, have landed at Cape Verde Islands. HIGH-SPEED AIRWAYS LONDON, Feb. 10. Air France have announced a network of high-speed airways linking London, Paris, South America, lndoChina, Rome, Cannes and Scandinavia, which is being inaugurated ou April 1.
Paris is to be reached in .11 hours, Rome in 8j hours, Copenhagen in 290 minutes, and Cannes in 410 minutes.
