The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London ollice, dated February 15, advisiug that the following arc the approximate average prices realised for the week, based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the descrip-
lions : of meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of (he goods offering during tho week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithiield market, and/or cx London stores (tho prices for last week being given in parentheses):— New Zealand sheep: Canterbury and North Island crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 43/56 5 l-8d (sfd), 57/64 4i'd (sd), 65/72 44 d (4Jd); North Island, 48/56 5 1-Sd (sJd>, 57/64 4Jd (sd), 65/72 4Jd (4§d); ewes, 48/under 4d (4 1-Sd), 48/64 34d (3 5-Sd), 65/72 3}d (3 3-8 d). New Zealand lambs: Canterbury, not quoted; selected North Island brands, 36/under 7 l-8d (7 3-Sd), 37/42 7 l-3d (7 3 Sd), 43/50 7d (7Jd); second quality, average 32, 6 7-Sd (7Jd); othei North Island brands, first quality, 36/under 7d (7Jd), 37/42 7d (7|d); second quality, average 32, 6 5-Sd (6 7-Sd).
Australian lambs: Victorian, first quality, 36/under, 6-id (6£d), 37/42 Old (6:]d), 36/under 6 3-8 d (61d). New Zealand beef: Ox fores, 2 7-Sd (3d); ox hinds, 3fd (3 7-Sd). Argentine chilled beef: Ox fores, 3-}d (old); ox hinds, 5d (sd). Australian frozen beef: Ox crops, over 100, 3Jd (3Jd); ox hinds, ovei 160, 3 7-Sd (4d). New Zealand prime porker pigs: 60/80, sid (5Jd); 81/100, 5d (5Jd); 101/120, 5d (5-Jd). New Zealand baconer pigs: 120/160, 54d (5Jd). Lamb market: Feeling strong competition front other low-priced meats and values have again weakened, through selling pressure.
Mutton market: Wethers and ewes also weaker in sympathy with lambs. Beef market: Trade slow owing to heavier supplies of chilled beef. New Zealand porker pigs: Prices easier owing to over-supply. New Zealand baconer pigs: Slightly easier owing to lower prices Continental bacon. BUTTER AND CHEESE. The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received tho following market report from its London office dated February 15, 1935 (tho quotations for last week being in parentheses):— Butter. New Zealand: Baited, 88s to 90s (S9s to 80s), equals approximately 10.36 d, f.0.b.; unsaltcd, 94s to 96s (94s to 965). Deliveries, New Zealand, 2182 tons; in store, New Zealand, 5325 tons (includes ISBB tons Norfolk and Makana). Australian: Salted, 89s to S9s; unsalted, 92s to 935. Deliveries, Australian, 306 S tons; in store, Australian, 3745 tons.
Argentine: Unsalted, 925. Danish: 94s f.0.b., 115 s to 116 s spot (995, 120 s). Dutch: Unsalted, 103 s to 107 s (103 s to 107 s). Lithuanian: Salted, 90s; unsalted, 98s. . Market quiet. Retail prices unchanged. New Zealand, lid; Danish, Is 2d.Cheese. New Zealand: White, 48s 6d, 49s to 49s Od (47s 6d to 48s), equals approximately 5Jd f.0.b.; coloured, 48s Od, 49s (47s to 48s). Deliveries, Nerv Zealand, 20,131 crates; in stoic, New Zealand, 128,956 crates (includes 24,950 crates .Port Campbell, Port Fairy, Mataroa). Australian: White, 47s to 47s Od (465); coloured, 46s dd to 47s (59s to 60s). Canadian: White, 60s (58s to 60s); coloured, 60s to 62s (59s to 60s). Deliveries, Canadian, 5330 boxes; in store, Canadian, 105,163 boxes. Market steady. New Zealand retail price unchanged, 6d. English linest farmers’: 82s to 90s (S2s to 90s), quiet.
