THE SYDNEY SALES. SYDNEY, Feb. 4. At the wool sales to-day 11,870 baic.-> were offered and 10,092 were sold at auction; also ISOI baies wore sold privately. There was good competition from Yorkshire, Japan, and France, with moderate support from Germany. Prices were on a par with tnosc oi last week. Good wools were in keen request, but doubtful yielding sorts were still irregular and withdrawals of these were fairly heavy. Greasy Merino made 20d. LONDON WOOL AUCTION. . LONDON, Feb. 4. At the wool sales 7221) bales were offered, including 1297 from New Zealand, and about 3394 Australian and New Zealand bales were sold. There was good Home and Continental competition, with prices fully steady. The series closes to-morrow. New Zealand scoured Merinos, Oxford, .19d, 18,id; greasy crossbred, Kapiti, lOd. WELLINGTON GAS COMPANY. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Wellington Gas Company’s annual meeting to-day passed a dividend of S per cent. The total directors’ fees were increased from £SOO to £llOO pei annum. A resolution was also carried that, in view of the improved position of the company, and business generally, the directors will early take into favourable consideration the restoration of the 10 per cent. cut. LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, Feb. 1. At the wool sales GGO4 bales were offered, including 2053 New Zealand and 039 S Australian. The New Zealand offering was sold by a satisfactory clearance to Home and Continental buyers. The tone was fully steady for New Zealand greasy crossbred. The brand “D and QW” made 10id and SJd per pound. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The Higli Commissioner for New Zealand reports from London as follows: — Apples. —Demand continues. Large stocks available keep prices moderate. British Columbian Jonathans, 9s 3d to ,10s 3d; Newtown Pippin, 11s Gd to 13s Gd; Oregon Newtown, 12s 9d to 11s Gd; Californian Newtown, 12s to 12s Gd. Pears. —American pears selling well. Winter Nelis, 15s to 15s Gd. Peas. —Maples: Market has advanced on adverse crop reports for Tasmanian and New Zealand. About the beginning of the month “A” grade Tasmanian for February-Mareh shipment sold at 43s Gd. Later up to 4Gs. New- Zealand: Recently offered at 4Gs for Marcli-April shipment, and this is considered the present value. WOODVILLE STOCK SALE. Messrs. Abraham and Williams report on the Woodvillc stock sale held in the Woodville saleyards on Monday, February 4:—A particularly heavy yarding of both sheep and lambs canfe forward for this fixture, the offering comprising principally sheep from the coastal area, and these met with a particularly good sale. In the ewe section wo had some particularly choice lines of 4 and 5-year ewes and report a total clearance under the hammer at prices which must bo considered in vendors’ favour. In the 4 and 5-yr. ewe class our top price was 22s 2d for a lino of chiselled-mouth Romney Cross ewes, other lines of 4 and 5-year ewes ranging in values from 10s Gd to 20s. Two-tooth wethers carrying a bit of condition met with a fair sale, while others showing the signs of road stain were difficult to quit. In our iamb offering the major portion consisted of

u.f. shorn u oilier lambs. Anything carrying condition in the way of good lambs were keenly sought after. The following is our range of values: —1 and 5-yr. ewes, 22s 2d, 20s Id, 19s 9d, 17s Gd, IGs 7d, IGs Gd; 4, o and 4-yr. ewes, 21s Id, 20s, 19s Gd; 2-tooth ewes, 255, 235; 2-th. wethers, 18s 3d, 18s Id, ISs, 17s 9d; w.f. shorn wether lambs, los Gd, Us 2d, 12s Gd, 11s; b.f. lambs, 13s 4d, 11s Gd; euii lambs, 9s (id, 9s Id, 8s 7d, 7s 3d. BULLS STOCK SALE. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., report a good entry ot sheep and lambs at Bulls sale on Monday. There was a slightly smaller attendance of the public, avl competition was not so keen, but prices remained linn at recent rates and ire report practically a total clearance. There was a medium entry of store pigs, which showed no alteration in prices, but in flic cattle section- several lines of young cattle were sold at. what appeared to be sacrifice prices.
