Duke Now on Way to Samoa
FIREWALKING CEREMONY ON ISLAND OF BEQA i United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Kcceivcd Tuesday, 7 p.m. SUVA, Feb. 5. Yesterday the Duke of Gloucester visited the island of Bcqa, 20 miles south of Suva, where a fire-walking ceremony was performed in his honour, and greatly impressed the .Royal visitor. Later in the day ho took part in a fish drive and was no interested that he jumped overboard from the whaleboat and assisted in hauling in the net, in which were over 100 fish. Last night there was a dance in the Town Hall for the petty officers and men of H.M.A.S. Australia, while the Duke attended a private dance at Government House. This morning the Duke and party left in the Australia for Apia, and among those on the wharf to bid him farewell were the Governor, the Mayor and officials. The guard of honour comprised European, Fijian and Indian troops and constabulary.
