Mr E. O. Bond’s Problems
(To the Editor.) Sir,— At a farmers’ meeting held recently Mr. E. 0. Bond complained at the action of the Government in not making an allowance for wages paid to farmers’ wives and daughters under the incoino tax returns. I would like to knov| why Mr. Bpnd, a once prominent member of the Rialto Labour Party, never took up the cause of the woman or girl who toils in this city for tho handsome remuneration of 12s 6d a week, with five per cent, wages tax deducted, and if out of work receives no unemployment benefits. Mr. Bond is like many others; he only complains when misfortune comes his way. Mr. Bond stated at this meeting that, unless the" farmers banded together, they would soon bo bound with chains. I would advise Mr. Bond to bo sure on this occasion that his little band is founded on a Tock in caso ho should have the'same bitter experience as another little, band bad not long ago.— I. am, etc., “ ONE IN THE KNOW. • Palmerston North, February 4, 1935.
