District Nursing Guild

MONTHLY MEETING HELD Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., presided over the first meeting of the year of the District Nursing Guild, held in the City' Council Chambers yesterday afternoon, also present being. .Mesdames Z. Gill, S. V. Trask, H. Coles, H. Dudfield, C. F. Spooner, M. Aitchison (secretary), Miss M.,Cunninghame and Mr J. A. McLeavey. Sister K. Spensley was also in attendance.

Apologies "were received from Mesdames E. Bctt, L. Bale, W. L. Fitzherbert and C. N. Babone.

Nurse's Report

The report for the months of December, 1934, and January, 1935, presented by the district nurse, Sister A. Spensley,'stated that 421 treatments had been made, social welfare and supervision totalling 121. Visits .to the office totalled SO, while IS new patients had been added to the . books. There had been OS collections of clothing. Donations were gratefully acknowledged as follow: —Clothing, Mesdames Frey berg, Varcoe, A. J. PhilJipps, McMurray, Akers, L. Bale and \V. B. Tennent; cakes, L.E.C. Bakery; hire of chair, Mrs Tattersall £.l Is and Mrs Mills 7s Gd. Through the.generosity of anonymous donors, also Business Girls' Club £1 Is, and Ladies’ Bridge Club (per Mrs Griggs) £1 Is, Christinas cheer was distributed to all patients in the district. The Girl Guides contributed 40 stockings and Misses Betty Keid and Beth Harper helped to gladden the hearts of many children. —The report was adopted. A donation of £2 2s was received from the Honorary Justices’ Association of Mauawatu and District, the gift being greeted by acclamation. It was decided to send a letter of thanks and to forward letter also to other donors named in the report. The matter of Miss Spensley's holiday is to bo left with Mr Aitchison to arrange with Mr A. J. Phillipps. An account of £3 11s 6d was passed for payment. Discussion centred round means of augmenting funds, the matter being held over.
