Feilding's Water Supply
AMPLE WHILE THE RIVER FLOWS.
Feilding is one of those fortunately situated towns having a good water service and so long as the Oroua river continues to flow tho town will have water. Although the river was on. Sunday as low as ever it has been the intake pipe was running full bore to the reservoirs which are used in a way as settling basins. The draw off during tho day is at times greater than the inflow, but each night tho reservoirs make up tho deficit. Due to tho excessively hot and dry spell now being experienced in the town ratepayers are making liberal use of tho water. It is to be regretted that the use of hoses on the 1 low level is not being kept within the time-table laid down by the Borough Council and this has resulted in rather serious inconvenience to ratepayers of the higher level who have failed to equip their homes with tanks to provide against dry spells. The pressure falls during the day-time, but this need not give any causo for alarm since the borough authorities can, at will, meet a serious fire situation by cutting off supplies and concentrating the delivery to any part of the town concerned. Despite the fact that yesterday was washing day tho pressure in view of all the circumstances was quite good.
