SEVERAL APPLICATIONS BEFORE COUNCIL A number of applications for street improvements were presented to the City Council last evening. Mr. J. O’Sullivan wrote with reference to the state of footpaths in Keith, Haydon and Rata streets and requesting that they be cleaned and tar-sealed. The engineer was asked to report. From Mr. N. Matthews came a letter applying on behalf of the residents of Recent street for this street to be tarscaled. —This was referred to the estimates. Miss Sutherland wrote drawing attention to the rought state of the ground in front of lot G 3 Marne street extension and requesting that the asphalt path be continued along past her property.—The engineer reported that the work was done. In respect of Ilcretauuga street, the engineer reported that before this street was tar-surfaced the exceedingly high crown will have to be taken down as the road surface is very much out of shape. He suggested that the matter of lowering the crown do considered with next year’s estimates with, a view to having it done with No, 5 labour. —The suggestion was adopted. A petition was received from the residents of Ward street requesting that tho street be tar-sealed as soon as possible and it was decided that the, matter be referred to the estimates.
