Honorary Degre For New Zealander
NOTED ANTHROPOLOGIST. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The honorary degree of doctor of literature was conferred, on. Mr. Diamond Jenness by the Senate of the University of New Zealand to-day on the recommendation of t,he Academic Board. Dr. Jenness was formerly a student at Victoria University College, graduating M.A. in 1908 with first-class honours in classics. Ho is at present chief of the anthropological section under the Canadian Government andjs bin charge of the anthropological department, of tho Canadian National Museum, Ontario. Dr. Jenness has written numerous and extensive reports on various phases of Eskimo Anthropology _ and. in addition, a well-known book, ’ “Children of tho Twilight*” published -rim 1925. He has. also -published and edited reports on American aborigines. He’ is Tecdgnised as one of the leading •’-anthropologists of the present day and his published works are evidence of his outstanding literary ability.
