Prom Our Own Correspondent. All Saints’ Prosperity Fair. An event which occasioned considerable interest locally and for which industrious preparations have been in progress for many weeks past, was the holding of the annual Prosperity Pair under the auspices of All Saints’ Church. The event took place on Tuesday and as usual the efforts of dozens of willing workers were attended by huge success. Tho scene inside the spacious hall presented a most attractive sight with its numerous stalls, artistically decorated and laden with a profuse supply of goods of every description which were offered for sale, and which at the close of the evening' were practically all sold. The decorations here were carried out under the supervision of Mrs. M. A. Boss, while those ladles in charge of the tea arrangements were Mesdames P. C. Bailees, Wit ton, T. Scott, P. Conlan, Nichols and Marchant and Misses E. Grey and L. Jarvis, all of Oroua Downs. The produce stall was in charge of Mesdames \V. E. Barber, E. W. Thane, P. A. Mason and Misses M. and E. Barber, while the toy stall alongside, was conducted by Mesdames John Robinson, W. Trueman, G. F. Smith and Miss N. Robinson. The ladies in charge of tho guild stall were Mesdames A. S. Easton, J. H. Robinson, Di 1 Christie, C. H. Symons, T. East and E. M. Wyllie. The members of All Saints’ choir displayed homemade sweets, while the cake stall was in the charge of Mesdames R. Bryant, Chas. Robinson, S. R. Austin and B. C. Bryant. The jumble stall was in the charge of Mesdames P. Robinson, P. Carmont and T. R. Popple and the flower stall holders were Mesdames F. Procter and G. E. Walls and Misses B. Middleton and E. Rountree. The vicar, Rev. 11. S. Kenney, in asking the Mayor to open tho fair, expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Perreau for the interest they had always shown in the affairs of the church. The speaker expressed his personal thanks to the large number of very keen workers, including both town and country parishioners, who had spent a tremendous amount of time and trouble in an effort to make the fair a success. Tho Mayor apologised for the absence of tho member for the district (Mr. J. Linklater, M.P.) and congratulated the church members on the very fine display. Mrs. Perreau was made the recipient of a bouquet. During the evening session there was a very large attendance and several competitions provided considerable amusement for young and old alike. Patrons were treated to an excellent programme in the evening, which commenced with selections by the Poxton Silver Band, followed by a number of items by over 60 members of the Palmerston North Y.M.C.A. gymnasium, and chorus items by members of the Poxton Musical Club.
Prom 10 p.m. a dance was held in the supper room, which was packed with young people. The music was provided by Mr. T. East, extras being contributed by Mr. J. Staff and Miss Pearl King.
