Tho Army next year will return to its pre-war scarlet uniforms on ceremonial occasions, says the Daily Express. Tho decisxoii has arisen in consequence of the adoption of tho new field uniform, a feature of which uuilorm its shorts. This has been called the deerstalker costume, but is universally approved under working conditions. The question arose of an alternative for ceremonial parades. Tenders revealed that the difference in figures for khaki and scarlet were small. Among other factors favouring red coats was the incentive to recruiting. Numerous regiments, particularly Scottish units, have for the past ten years vainly petitioned the War Office to be allowed to return to full dress.
