Calf Club Judging
FURTHER FEILDING DISTRICT results Tho calf club judging in the Boys' and Girls’ Calf Club competition, was continued yesterday when tho entries in the Colyton, Te Arakura and Awahuri group were adjudicated upon. Two very beautiful calves were presented at' Colyton, where Mr J. Crooke (chairman of the school committee) acted as judge in the company of Mr E. H. Lange, agricultural 1 instructor of tho Wanganui Education Board. The awards were as follow: —
Colyton Dairy type: Brian Mai’s Beauty, 1; Frank Weston’s Kitty, 2. Care and attention: Placings unaltered. Te Arakura Mr J'. O’Donnell, of Bunnythorpe, was the judge of tho calves presented at Te Arakura school. Dairy type: Harold Stewart s Jilt, 1; Earl Fuller’s Buttercup, 2; Olive Thomas’ Rosalind, 3; Joan Burnham ’3 Betty, 4; Maisie Johnston’s Nancy, 5; Awdrey Firth’s Nancy, 6. Care and attention: Olive Thomas 3, Harold Stewart 2, Joan Burnham 3, Earl Fuller 4, Maisie Johnston 5. Awahuri At Awahuri Mr O’Donnell acted as judge also, and at this school had occasion to congratulate the children upon the splendid condition of the calves. The manner in which they were turned out was a credit to the children. The awards were as follow: — Dairy type: Dorothy Goodman’s Eita, J; Joyce Goodman’s Princess Marina, 2; Edmund Woodruffe’s Myrtle, 3; Allan Goodman’s Duchess, 4; Allan Salt’s Bonny, 5. Care and attention: Doreen Woodruffe’s Violet, 1; Dorothy Goodman, 2: Edmund Woodruffe, 3; Allan Goodman, 4; Joyce Goodman, 5. Three yearling heifers were also presented for judging at Awahuri, The decision was based upon type with the following results:— Myrle Campbell’s Tui, 1; Allan Salt’s Tulip, 2; Duleic Campbell’s Dell, 3.
