Princess Marinas Wedding Gown
SYMBOLISING THIS AGE OF SPEED
United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON, Nov. 17. The secret of Princess Marina’s wedding gown is out. It will bo streamlined and based on the sweeping lines ©f the modern motor-car. It was evolved to symbolise this age of speed. Of white brocade, with an English rose woven in silver, it extends unbrokealy from the shoulders to a small train. The waistline is eliminated, because it would interrupt the curve. Princess Marina’s court train will be of the same fabric, 15 feet long from the shoulders and 10 feet wide at the end. It has not been decided whether the end will bo carried or sweep the nave, as modern brides prefer. When Princess Marina arrives in / London next Wednesday she will arrive in a special train to Victoria in company with her parents and the Duke of Kent, who will meet the Princess on her arrival at Dover. The King has appointed Lady Mary Dorothea Hope, daugher of the first Marquess of Linlithgow, a former Gov-ernor-General of Australia, and sister of tho present Marquess, as lady in waiting to Princess Marina. It- is pointed out that such a post is only filled after the most careful' consideration, 'several'names being submitted to their Majesties. Lady Mary’s task will be to accompany Princess Marina’s , first entry into society as a Koval / Princess, which will be complicated by Princess' Marina’s foreign extraction. Lady Mary will aisC be entrusted with the answering of hundreds of letters '' and invitations to manifold functions.
