Each member of the vast give an excellent portrayal, the principals reaching to the heights of dramatic endeavour in this Lonsdalo work, which is probably the most difficult ever attempted by the soviety. Following the final curtain, the members of the cast were accorded a sincere ovation and floral tributes, boxes of sweets and other tokens of appreciation were showered upon tho players, Mrs 11. Palmer, wardrobe mistress, being also honoured. Returning thanks for liberal patronage during the season, Mr A. J. Graham, president of the society, said it was gratifying to all concerned. The society was particularly fortunate in having as producer a man of such capabilities as Mr F. Cousins, who had the skilled insight for the necessary action and the ability to transfer his thoughts to others. Air Cousins had on many occasions given tho public evidence of his work, but had never risen to such heights of production as in this season. For a number of years he had laboured faithfully and well on behalf of the society, and the members trusted he would bo with them for years to come. The society was also fortunate in having in its ranks a number of gifted amateurs, and the recent production had revealed a wealth of talent. The united work of tho producer and cast had, resulted in a performance of the high-; est standard. Air Graham called Mr Cousins to tho stage and asked for an expression of appreciation, which was enthusiastically given. Mr Graham said it was impossible to enumerate all; who had assisted towards the success of. the presentation, but thanks were due to many behind the stage; to the orchestra, under tho capable leadership of Mrs Clift, and to Messrs Andrews and Son for the loan of furnishings.
