United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Sunday, 7 p.m. DUBLIN, Sept. 22. General O’Duffy has resigned the presidency of the Fine Gaol and Commandant Cronin succeeds him. General O’Duffy has also resigned the leadership of the Blue Shirts, whose council, with the United Ireland Party executive, after a lengthy meeting, issued a statement that they had unanimously and regretfully accepted the resignation. Both bodies keenly appreciated General O’Duffy’s great services to Ireland. Commandant Cronin was unanimously selected as directorgeneral. General O’Duffy declines to comment. Mr Cosgrave was elected president of the United Ireland Party.
