Tennis Dance at Cheltenham
The Cheltenham Tennis Club held another of its popular dances on Tuesday evening and the gaiety of proceedings evidenced that all those in attendance found the occasion a very happy one. Long trails _of ivy with red camellias to add colour made graceful decorations in the half, while in the supper room the tables were artistically arranged by Mrs J. Anderson and Miss E. Thompson with flowers in tho chib’s colours, gold and cream. A professional orchestra played spirited music and extras were contributed by Miss Peggy Matheson, of Feilding. Mr E. Sinclair (president of the club) did ail that was possible to assist in making the function a success and he was . helped by Mr R. Petersen. During the evening several competitions were held, the lucky Gay Gordons being won by Miss Goldsack and Mr J. Lyons, and tho Monto Carlo waltz by Mrs Andrews and Mr Y. Shannon. A largo Christmas cake, made and donated by Mrs E. Sinclair, and beautifully iced and decorated by Mrs AV. Anderson with the club’s monogram, was won by Mrs R. McIntosh, of Feilding. The very delectable home-made supper supplied by the girl members and social committee of the club was much appreciated, as also was the excellent coffee made by Mrs C. Bismark. At supper time the tennis girls gave their services as waitresses, and were untiring in attending to the wants of all. General regret was expressed when tho last dance was announced, and patrons were unanimous in declaring that the evening had passed far too quickly by.
