Total catalogues offered at the London wool sales to-day were 10,551 bales, including 3645 bales New Zealand, and 8732 bales were sold. Homo and Continental competition was good, and the opening rates were maintained. New Zealand greasy crossbred “JMP" sold at 81«3: highest “and S 1-Sd average. Slipc, halfbred lambs, “Eclipse" over T II A, made 12}d highest and 11 3-Sd average.

FINE WOOLS IN DEMAND

MELBOURNE, Sept. 20. The offerings at the wool sales were 0550 bales. There was a good demand for wools showing good style, both for merinos and comebacks, but inferior sorts, more especially burry and faulty skirtings, were difficult to sell. Top prices realised were super fleet*® wool 14Jd per lb., comeback 14_U1. DOLLAR AND STERLING. LONDON, Sept. 19. Sterling exchange, London on New York, 5.004 dollars.

Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Johnsonville sale held on Wednesday as follow:—Wo submitted a full yarding of all classes of stock. In the* cattle yarding were several prime show bullocks which elicited keen competition. Prime quality cattle sold on a par with last week’s rates, whilst plainer and lighter bullocks wore slightly easier. Cows and heifers showed no alteration,in prices. Wethers met with a fair sale at late rates whilst ewes were in good demand at prices showing a decline of from Is to Is Gd per head. Spring lambs which were yarded in small numbers were keenly sought after.
