St. Pat’s Football Club

Tho annual' ball of St. Patrick’s Football Club drew a largo crowd to the Ds Luxe hall last evening, tho usual high standard of entertainment at this popular fixture being maintained. Prominent in tho decorations were the club colours, green and white, and as a friendly gesture the colours of the other clubs of the city' were combined in tho decorativo scheme, together with all their shields. Nikau palms and other greenery, with bunches of balloons which were later distributed, added to the pleasing appearance of tho hall. Lively-dance • numbers were frequently applauded, and Messrs E. J. Stone and T. E. Davidson ably controlled the programme. Jockey' hats, squeakers and other novelties were distributed during the evening and added to the festive scene. - - ...••-■.r..---, - Among those present were ■ Messrs K. W. Eglinton, vice-president 1 of the Manawatu Rugby Unio'n; J. White (secretary), 11. R. Crawford, Lf G. Berry, H. Bowler and H. J. Hickey, members of tho union. The enthusiastic eommittoo responsible for this well-run function comprised Messrs J. J. O'Shea, J. Delany, F. Spelman, T. E. Davidson, P. Ferguson, T. Madgwick, M. McKay, L. Smith, F. Donnelly', N. Rush, headed by the capable secretary, Mr E, J, Stone. The supper arrangements were carried out by the following ladies’ committee: Mrs Stone, who wore black chenille and georgette; Mrs Tottman, in black velvet and georgette; Mrs Johnston, pink lace; Mrs Madgwick, oyster satin; Mrs Burke, black lace; Miss Muir, green velvet; Miss Smith, white ring velvet, Mesdames Heaphy and McNab, also Miss Simpson. Novelty items contributed by Mr Tex Morton, tbo “wandering cowboy,” were much appreciated. In the absence of Mr A. W. Thompson, president of the Manawatu Rugby Union, the trophies won .during the season were presented by Mr K. W. Eglinton as follow: — Old Boys’ Club: Senior championship (Hankins shield); third grade 7-a-side (Hunter Will cup). Feilding Old Boys: Senior 7-a-side (Thompson-Payno cup); third grade B competition (Altken cup). Kia Toa Club: Junior 7a-side (Rogers cup); fifth grade competition (Evans cup). United Club; Third grade championship (Gibbons cup); Wednesday championship (Offers cup).

St. Patrick’s Club: Senior “sudden death” (Goldfinch and Cousins cup). Bunny thorpe: Junior championship (Broome shield); champion of champions, Manawa-tu-Horowhenua (Rowland cup). Woodville: Third grade “sudden death” (Anderson cup). Boys’ High School (Gordon Club): Sixth grade championship (Baker cup)*
