Man Dies on Ben Lomond

300 YARDS FROM SUMMIT. Alter an aeroplane had been used on August 3, in tho search for a man lost on Ben Lomond, his body was found by two visitors, 300 v-ards from the summit. They did not know anyone was missing. The dead climber, Mr. William Lippiatt, of Glasgow, wa< aged 65.

Mr. Lippiatt drove with friends to Kinlochard, on the Aherfovlo side of the mountain, on the morning of August 2, and sot out alone to climb Ben Lomond and across to Rowtirdennan, where the car party was to meet. him. As he did not appear after several hours, his friends raised l.he alarm. Search was made from both sides of the mountain, but the searchers returned unsuccessful early on August 3, when a fresh search was organised. The aeroplane was forced to return owing to tho heavy mists. Searchers on foot were driven back' by drenching rain and mist which became so dense that they themselves wiere in peril. The police took no part in the search, the reason being that thero are two counties —-Perthshire and Stirlingshire —in tbc area and no lead had been given by. either police force. . , It was understood that a shepherd warned Air. Lippiatt not to continue the ascent. The height of Ben Lomond is 3192 feet.
