United Prcs3 Association. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, »Sept. 17. The Royal lovers had an enthusiastic reception at all stations on their journey north, crowds on the platforms cheering. At Grantham, Princess 'Marina leaned out of the window and shook hands with two hundred. Tho Duko and Duchess of York and Princess Elizabeth met the train at Ballater. ‘ Prince George, in Highland dress, stepped out and helped Princess Marina to alight. Marina warmly kissed. the Duchess and Princess Elizabeth, and then the couple entered the King’s car, while a guard of honour of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders presented arms. Tho party drove slowly to Balmoral, through enthusiastic crowds. Warmth Of Welcome For Princess Marina. WHITE HEATHER FOR LUCK (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 17. An exceptionally warm welcome was accorded Princess Marina when she arrived in London yesterday for the first time since the Royal engagement was announced. Many thousands of peoplo along the railway route waved greetings as tho train from Folkestone to London passed, and there was a vast crowd awaiting her at Victoria Station and the surrounding sr,reels. When the train came to a standstill Princo Georgo stepped forward and kissed his fiancee and cordially greeted her parents. The party then took their seats in waiting motor-cars. Prince George and. Princess Marina in the first of these were welcomed with, a great outburst of cheering which continued throughout tho short journey to the Prince’s London residence York House. Tens of thousands of peoplo were gathered in the Mall, and later, in response to calls from the tightly-packed courtyard in front of tho house tho Prince and Princess appeared at the window and .bowed an acknowledgment of London’s acclamation. Later the Royal party lcit for Balmoral, and their departure was the occasion of another popular demonstration. During a temporary halt at Grantham Station a large crowd surged round the windows of tho Royal carriage, and the Princess shook hands with many of them. Crowds also assembled at other stations along the route to Ballater, where the Royal party left tho train to travel by road to Balmoral. A Royal Guard of 50 men of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlands was draw up in the station forecourt, and bagpipers sounded a welcome and the troops presented arms by way of greeting to Princess Marina, who, with Prince Georgo and her parents, arrived at Ballater this morning. They continued their journey to Balmoral Castle in company with tho Duke and Duchess of York and Princess Elizabeth a.nd the King’s Equerry, Lord Claud-Hamilton, who were on the platform to receive tho visitors. A large crowd had assembled, and the Prince and his fiancee waved acknowledgments to repeated outbreaks of cheering. Outside the gates of tho castle of Balmoral highlanders, gillies, and other employed on tho castle estate were drawn up in a double lane as a guard of honour, and a group of peoplo of the neighbourhood throw flowers and white heather, a symbol of good luck, as the Prince’s car passed through the gates. lleceived by the Xing PIPERS PLAY GREETINGS LONDON, Sept. 17. Tho King assisted Princess Marina from tho car, after which their Majesties, Princess Marina, Princo and Princess Nicolas, and Prince George exchanged their first private greetings in tho castle hall. His Majesty led Princess Marina, by tho hand round the grounds. Six of his Majesty’s pipers encircled them and played a. wild Highland welcome.

Their Majesties and Princess Marina’s parents discussed the date and arrangements for the wedding, while Prince George drove Princess Marina to the Highland hills.
