Gift House For Sale
ME. J. 11. THOMAS’ DECISION A “For sale or to lot’’ board latelj stood outsido the residence of Mr J. H. Thomas, Secretary of State for the Dominions, in Thurlow Park-road, West Dulwich. This is the house which was presented to Mr Thomas by tho members of the National Union of Railwaymen, who contributed to a penny fund in recognition of the great work dono by him on their behalf. The title deeds were presented to Mr Thomas at a big gathering in London on April 4, 1020, and in addition, Mrs Thomas was given £SOO to assist her in furnishing the dwelling. This tribute to Mr Thomas was one which had been earned 'by many years- work for the union, and the value of it was heightened by the fact that only a short dime before—in the strike of 1919—Mr Thomas had ben the victim of considerable abuse. The great mass of railway men, however, felt that he should be given some recognition, and this house in Dulwich was a practical expression of their opinion. With their children married, Mr and Mrs Thomas have found the Dulwich house too large for them, and latterly have been staying most of the time in town.
