POLICE STOP CAR BUT OCCUPANTS RUN AWAY. Per Press Association. WAIPUKURAU, Sept. 17. Thieves early this morning broke into Yates’ Cash Stores through a skylight, stealing practically all the tobacco stock. They also entered W. Boyers’ billiard saloon by a rear window, but nothing is missing. From a petrol pump outside Wells’ Garage 25 gallons of petrol was stolen after removing the lock. ' It is understood the nightwatchman was suspicious incidental to this episode and advised the police and at Takapau the constable there stopped a southward bound car and two men r..n away.
