KONINI The monthly meeting of tho Konini W.I. was held last Thursday, Mrs Kelly presiding over a good attendance. Several visitors .welcomed included Pahiatua ladies. Arrangements for the drama festival were furthered, white it was decided (that the third birthday bo celebrated on October 2G. Miss L. Brown is to bo in charge of the potato competition, Mrs P. Brown kindly donating the seed. An interesting demonstration of articles made from cretonne, given by Mrs Crewe, was enjoyed, tho demonstrator being accorded a bearty vote of thanks. Splendid entries for the competition, the best articlo made from waste material, made the Paliiatua ladies’ task of judging difficult. Results w r ere: Miss Brown (dressing gown) 1, Mrs Delehanty (hearthrug) 2. A musical parcel was won by Mrs Aver;'. A dainty afternoon tea was dispensed by tho hostesses, Mrs Avery and Miss Tucker. Tho competition for next month will be for the best potatoes boiled in their skins. PONGAROA
The monthly meeting was held last Thursday in the Masonic hall, when the usual bright afternoon was spent. It was decided that the institute bo represented at Eketahuna. Mrs M. Theed’s competition, the most economical three-course dinner, was won by Mrs F. A. Mcech. A stall was briskly patronised.
