A recent Auckland newspaper report stated that a resident of that city had written to the Centenary accommodation bureau in Melbourne inquiring the terms for broad and lodging during the Centenary celebrations, and had received. a reply that accommodation was at a premium, at about £3 3s per day The Australian Trade Commissioner (Mr. R. If. Ncsbit) has received the following reply to a cable lo Melbourne on the question: “Accommodation is still available. Applications should be made to the officer in charge of tho bureau, 435 Collins Street. There is no foundation whatsoever in the suggestion that the daily rate is £3 3s. For the peak period—that is, during tho visit of the Duke of Gloucester —the highest rate is 35s per day per person.”
