Flowers in Public Places

(To the Editor.) .Sir, —Being a frequent visitor to Fcilding during the past few -weeks, I wish to pay a tribute to the honesty of the Feilding public in the matter of the public gardens. Last week-end I was more than pleased to note that spring blooms in the vicinity of the Post Office were flowering in all their glory and not a bloom had been disturbed. Being interested in a garden in Palmerston North whore the public have free access, I am sorry to say flowers arc being constantly purloined. Any gardener who strives to niako a show place where he is employed comes to the conclusion that it is hardly worth while. The recent report by Mr. Cox. Square gardener to the City Council. will bear out ray contention. —I am, etc., “A. GARDENER.”
