EARLY PROMISE NOT PULFILLED. Latest reports from Wanganui state that Midian is training on satisfactorily at that centre and -will contest hack sprint events at the spring meeting to be held on that course next week. When raced as a two-year-old Midian displayed marked promise, among his successes being the Musket Stakes at Ellerslic and the Oroua Nursery at Foil ding, his total winnings at that age unmounting to £575. Ho was in the money several times last season, but, taken all round, his form was disappointing, states a northern writer. The Auckland owners, Messrs. 0. Nicholson and E. E. Davis, have purchased Chromadyne, and the Quin Abbey gelding has joined K. S. Bagby’s stable at Ellerslic. It is intended to give Chromadyne au opportunity to make good as a hurdler, and lie should do well in that department, in which other members of the same family in Wedding March and Royal Abbey have previously proved successful. The programme this year comprises eight races and the club has decided to have win and place machines, with three dividends for the place.
