.from Our Own Correspondent. The hall was well filled on Friday evening of last week when the Men's Hookey Club held a successful euchre party and dance. There were 12 tables playing euchre and some very close contests for supremacy took place. Mrs. began Scott and Miss Mary Taylor tied for the ladies’ first prize and In the cut the' latter was successful. For the ladies’ consolation Mrs, F. T. Scott and Miss W. Clara tied and the former was successful in securing the award. The men's first prize proved a clear cut victory for Mr. James Webby, and for the consolation prize Messrs P. T. Scott, John Taylor and R. Cooper tied and the latter was awarded the prize after the cut. After the cards were finished supper was served and then the floor was cleared for dancing to music supplied by Messrs A. Feeney, J. Kosoman and J. V. Wallis. During the evening a competition was held for a cake and Mr. J. A. Florence •waa the winner. Mrs. Iloy Wood contributed vocal numbers and Mr. R. Cooper gave three yodelling solos. Old-time and modem dancing was carried along until an early hour, fir. It. Florence acting as M.C.
On Saturday last a further hockey game in the eealed handicap was played locally between Carnarvon and Ohakea. Carnarvon was represented by Misses W. Clare (oaptain), H. Scott, I. Scott, B. Reeve, M. Bottcher, Ethna Hill, E. Rose, jj, Teague, J. George, Esme Hill and Mr*. F. Florence. Ohakea’s team was as follows: —’Misses M. Taylor (captain), K. Taylor, J. Pedersen, N. Capstlck, P. CapBtlck, N. Ellery, T, Harris, M. Murray, I. Matthews, M. Tremain and V. Cockburn. Carnarvon was out for tall scoring but ran out winners by 13 goals to nil. Ohakea waa unlucky in not scoring on numerous occasion*. Mr. ’G. R. McKenzie acted as umpire. At the conclusion of tho pa the visitors were entertained at afternoon tea. Miss M, Taylor thanked the local team for their hospitality, Mi3s W. Clare suitably responding. The scorers were M. Bottcher (6), B. Reeve (4), and Ethna Hill (3). During the aJfcerooon & competition for an iced cake waa won by Mr. C. H. Clare. Mr. Tim Procter has been discharged teom hospital and is progressing satisfactorily. Mr. Alex Stephens is home from hospital and i« elowly recovering. Mr*. W. J. Frecklington is home again after receiving treatment in hospital and 1* greatly Improved. , ... Patsy Armltage Is still an inmate of the hospital. Mr. T. It. McKenzie, of Cunninghams, has returned home after a brief visit to the district. Mr. and Mrri. R. G. visiting Mrs. C. McKenzie. Mr. James McKelvie, Mr. and Mrs. K. D. McKelvie and Misses R. McKelvie and V. Scott have returned home after an enjoyable trip to New Plymouth for the Taranaki Hunt Club races. Mrs. A. Connelly and Mr. F. Wright, of Palmerston North, are visiting Miss Connelly at "Clydesdale.” Miss Malzie Teague has returned from Palmerston .North, —-
