An Unknown Person's Chances in Hollywood
The odds for an unknown person to achieve screen fame in Hollywood were recently figured at 10,000 to one. But if the unknown is fortunate enough to obtain a contract with Paramount the odds immediately drop to two to one. These axe the odds offered by Paramount since its inception 23 years ago by Adolph Zukor, president of the company. Zukor’s creed always has been to develop new stars through the medium of a large stock company with a record of having developed one new star or featured player for each month since 1911. Paramount’s current roster of 21 players is expected to produce at least seven featured players or stars with strong public following. The players being tested through the medium of increasingly important roles this season are Grace Bradley, Carl Brisson, Larry Crabbe, Prances Drake, William Prawley, Barbara Pritchie, Ida Lupino, Helen Mack, Joan Marsb, Etbel Merman, Gertrude Michael, Joe Morrison, Ray Milland, Lanny Ross, Colin Tapley, Dorothy Wilson, Howard Wilson
