A census of all horses in Great Britain was taken recently under an order of the Army Council, for flic first time in 10 years. Every foal, yearling, mare, gelding, colt, filly and pony was counted. Tho number of horses is decreasing, according to the National Horse Association, whose figures give 1.924.721 for 3924. anrl only 1,549,600 last yenr. Britain’s horse stock lias to be known in case of national emergency.
