Tangimoana

From Our Own Correspondent. On Saturday night last the Taugimoar.a School Committee held a euchre tourney in aid of school funds. Despite tho adverse weather conditions, there was a fair attendance. Mr. Moclian, of Palmerston North, was tho winner of the men’s prize and Mrs. Hoye, Tangimoana, the winner of the ladies’ prize. Following the euchre an Impromptu dance was held bringing an enjoyable evening to a close.. .Mr. Mochan kindly supplied the music. During the past school holidays, there was quite a number of golfing enthusiasts spending their time at Tangimoana at their favourite pastime. The golf course was in use daily by the Paimerstonians and Martonians. Mr. Hunter, of Marton. who is a very able coach and a well known player, considers the local natural course as second to none in New Zealand. Miss Arnold, teacher at Ilokowhitu school, spent portion of the term holidays as guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Scott. air. J. G. Cauley, the newly appointed teacher for the local school, has commenced. duties. Two newly-weds, Mr. and Mrs. .T. Anderson, have purchased property and taken up their residence in Tangimoana. Captain G. W. Braddell, caretaker of the forestry area, is at present away on annual leave. Whitebait has not boon caught so far m any large quantities in tho Kangitikei river.
