Ironworkers’ Award Cancelled
SEQUEL TO STOPPAGE OF WORK • AT NEWCASTLE. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Monday, 10 p.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 3. Describing the stoppage of work at Lysaght’s factory at Newcastle as a breach of the undertaking by the employees that work would continue uninterruptedly, Air. Justice Cantor, of the, Industrial Commission, to-day rescinded the award which is applicable to the ironworkers’ section of Lysaght’s. Counsel for Lysaght’s stated that the strike meant that huge consignments of galvanised iron would have to be brought from England to enable Lysaght’s to keep faith with their customers, owing to tho exceptionally heavy demands on the local mills.
