Palmerston North Gun Club’s Annual Review

SUCCESSFUL YEAR RECORDED "In presenting the 25th. report and balance-sheet, I am pleased to state that, although ‘Old Man Depression’is stilt' 'with us, your committee, by adopting tho same cautious methods a.s it did the previous season, has great pleasure in being able to slate that the financial position of the club has improved,” states tho annual report of the Palmerston North Gun Club. Continuing, the report said: "The balance of assets over liabilities at the end of last season was £18(5 2s Gd, and at tho end of the season just closed it was £l9O Is Gd, leaving a nett profit on the year’s work of £1 19s. During the season the club held 13 club shoots and defended a challenge from the Wanganui Gun Club for the Collinson cup. You will be pleased to know that the Palmerston North Gun Club was successful in retaining possession of the cup, the average scores being: Palmerston North, 13 1-7 per gun; Wanganui, 12 4-7 per gun. As you arc aware, the Wellingtoa proeincial championship was competed for under the management of your committee, and was a very successful shoot in every way. Your club has been allotted the Wellington provincial claybird championship for the coming season. The thanks of the club are due to the following gentlemen for presenting trophies: Messrs E. It. AVimsett, J. Davison, AV. A. Thomson, M. Kcarins, 11. Collinson, B. K. Thomson, N. D. Stubbs, AA r . AV. Cook, A. AV. Akers, C. A. Rofe, L. Millward, E. G. Smith and A. E. Hansel. The Luoni cup was won by B. K. Thomson and the Cook cup by C. A. Rofe. The club championship was won by AV. A. Thomson. Mr Thomson was the holder of the club championship, having won it last year. I should have liked to see the Palmerston North club represented at the New Zealand championship recently held at Christchurch, but unfortunately none of our members was able to attend. In. conclusion, I would like to pay a well-deserved tribute to all the officers who helped to make the past season’s activities so successful, Especially I would like to thank our secretary for the very great deal of assistance to detail work given by him during the year.’’
