Fines aid Penalties

MAGISTRATE’S COURT PROCEEDINGS. Mr. J. L. Stout S.M. presided at tho Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday. F. F. Bendall, for. having no new number plates on his car, was fined 10/witlj. 3/- costs. , C. F. Purton similarly charged, was fined a 'like amount.

J. E. E. Sass was fined £2 with 107costs for a breach of his prohibition order.

John Bagnall was charged with procuring a fire-arm without a permit and, not being a 1 licensed dealer, was in possession of it for more than 7 days.— Fined 10/- with 10/- costs on each chargo.

J. Rodgers who had no new number plates on his car and didn’t have a drivers’ liconse, was fined 10/- and 107costs on tho first charge and £1 and 10/- costs on tho second.

Pack Yip came boforo tho Court on a chargo of cutting a corner and was fined £2 with 10/- costs.

Inspector Borry, on behalf of tho Ivairanga County Council, proceeded against a number of cyclists for riding bicycles at night without lights. Pat Wiiie was fined 10/- with 10/- costs, William Rickard was fined 10/- with 12/- costs, L. Corlett. was fined 10/with 10/- costs, L. Craig was lined 10/with 12/- costs.

Two motor drivers, W. R. Sykes and A. G . Manners, who only had one headlight on their vehicles, were each fined £1 with 10/- costs.

W. Gibson, who rode a motorcycle without a light was fined 10/- with 10/costs.

J. Hurley admitted a charge of speeding by his lorry driver, and was fined £2 with 10/- costs. Several cases of wandering stock were brought by the Kairanga County ranger (Mr. I. Baldwin). E. Pratt was fined 10/- with 12/- costs, Mrs. J. Sutherland waa fined 10/- with 107costs on one charge and £1 with 127costs on a second.

In a reserved decision, his Worship dismissed tho charges brought against H. B. Tucker of opening premises after hours for tho sale of I'iquor and selling after hours.
