Parliament's Work

ADDRES S-IN-REPLY DEEATE OPENING TO-MORROW. (Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The work of Parliament will enter on an interesting stage to-morrow, when tho Address-in-Reply debate will be commenced. Contrary to expectations, the Labour Party did. not make any attempt to divide the House when the Imprest Supply Bill was going through on Friday night, but it is regardod as almost certain that tho Opposition will launch, a hostile amendment to the Address motion.

The sitting of the House of Representatives to-morrow afternoon will be brief and will bo confined to formal business, oil tho completion of which there will bo an adjournment until 7.30 o'clock. Mr. 11. G. Dickie (Government, Fatea) will then move that a respectful address be presented to his Excellency tho Governor-General, and this will bo seconded by Mr. I'. A. de la Perrellc (Government, Awarua). At the conclusion of Mr. l’crrell’s speech the House will adjourn until Wednesday. As the leader of the Opposition (Mr. M. ,T. Savage) lias a speaking engagement in Auckland to-morrow, night, ho will not be in his place in the House on Wednesday afternoon, and the duty of resuming the Address-in-Reply debate on behalf of the Opposition will devolve on Mr P. Fraser (Labour, Wellington Central), who is the deputyleader of tho party. The terms of Labour’s amcnlment will not ho disclosed until Mr. Savage’s return from Auckland on Thursday. Apparently there is no great desire on the part of the Government t-o curtail tho debate, which is expected to last two weeks at least.

Tho debato will also be opened in the Legislative Council to-morrow, the mover being Hon. W. Porry and the seconder Hon. F. J. Waite.
