He paid a tribute to the assistance from Dr. Kidson and Mi Mares, the Netf Zealand and Sydney meteorologists, whose forecasts of the weather conditions were absolutely accurate. Bough weather, with rain and side winds, was experienced at first, but improved conditions later. "We flew few at from 100 to 200 feet most of the way until nesting the Australian .coast. W e then climbed higher.” The trip occupied 15 hours 35 minutes, and the plane landed with 150 gallons of petrol in its tanks. Among the many cordial, messages received before leaving New Zealand, that from Miss Batten was much appreciated. Ulm said he had a gical admiration for her as an aviatrix.
