From Our Own Correspondent. Defence'Rifle Club. Thts weekly shoot on the Bulls range was held over 300 and 600 yards (10 shots). Tho conditions wero cold with a steady left wind. P. Thorby was top scorer with 48, 48—06. Following are the scores:—P. Thorby ' 48, 48 —06; C. M. Broughton 48, 48—96; H. Meads 48, 48— 96; h. Huddleston 46, 45 —01; D. Bundy 44, 44. - ", Kitchen Evening. On Friday evening tho relatives and friends of Miss Melba Brooide entertained’her at a kitchen evening at Mr. H. T. U. Marumaru s . meeting house at J?areawnui. in spite of the wintry night over 70 people assembled, showing the popularity of the guest of honour, whose marriage to Mr. Howland Guy, of ltaumai road, Bulls, is to take place shortly. Games and cards were Indulged in, the winners of the different competitions being as follow: —Buchre, Mrs. G. V. Homes and Master A. Klatt; consolation, Mrs. W. Klatt and Mr. Milton Brookie. Monte Carlo, Mr. and Mrs. A, McGregor; statue waltz, Mrs. H. T. U. Marumaru and Mr. B. Coleman. The music was supplied by Mrs. Trembath, Misses May ana Winnie Kearney, and Messrs W. llean and J.. McKinnon. The hostesses of the evening were Mesdames H. Russell, Last-Harris, \V. Homes and I-J. T. U. Marumaru. Mrs. W. Homes presented a bouquet to Miss Brooide, who also received a large number of useful presents for which Mr. Rowland Guy returned thanks. Ladies’ Golf.
