The annual five-a-sido hockey tournament played under the auspices of the Bush Hockey Association was held on Mr. R. G. Smith’s property at Woodville on Monday last, and as in previous years drew good entries from the surrounding districts. In the men's section the Woodvilie C team prevailed, over Kuatamaki (Dannevirke) by 2 goals to nil, while in the ladies’ section Ruatamaki defeated Dannevirke Old Girls by a hit behind after extra time had been played. Tho final between tlio section winners was a most exciting game, the winners being Ruatamaki by a hit behind after extra time had been played. Hockey Club Dance. The Woodville Hockey Club held its annual danco on Monday evening when thero was an excellent attendance, visitors being present from Dannevirke, Palmerston North and Pahlatua. A professional orchestra supplied tho music, while extra dances were played by Mrs. Schroder, Miss Palmer (To Rehunga) and Messrs N. Bartlo and A. Wadley. Mr. S. L. Fannin carried out the duties of M.C. Tho committee responsible for tho running of tho dance were Mesdames H. McNoll, J. Charles, 11. Giles, G. Gallon, A. A. Walker, Misses Harris, J. and F. Walthers and Mcßead and Messrs R. Harris, A. A. Walker, M. Rennett, K. Strand, McLennan and S. L. Fannin. Wednesday Football. Playing in the Bush Union’s Wednes- . n the Woodville team met and defeated Ballance on Wednesday last by 10 points to 3. Tho game was followed by a fair number of spectators and at times really good play was witnessed, the Woodville backs handling the ball excellently. Woodvillo’s scores wero made up by tries by I.
