Prisoners Sentenced
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 23. The following prisoners were sentenced at tho Supreme Court this morning by Mr. Justice Reed:—Oscar Branco Iluia Wbyte, theft, twelve months hard labour; John Louis Connell, forgery, twelve months’ hard labour; William Tasman Me* ris, breaking, entering and theft (two charges), two years on each to be ccvncrrrrent; Samuel Osmond Reddish, and Phillip Daniel Deo, breaking, entering and theft, (two charges), three years’ reformative on each charge, to bo concurrent; William Wallace Clifford, theft from a dwelling (two charges), eighteen months’ reformative on each charge, to be concurrent; Lawrence Francis Taylor, forgery and uttering (two charges), twelve months’ on each -charge, to bo concurrent, and he was also declared an habitual criminal.
Some Serious Charges NEW PLYMOUTH, May 23. At the Supreme Court this morning
Sir Michael Myers sentenced Erode riel: William. Bclk, who pleaded guilty to indecent assault on a girl aged ten, to seven years’ reformative detention. Mr. Myers said that only tho medical report deterred him from also ordering Corporal punishment. Henry Robert Watkins, who pleaded guilty to four charges of false pretences and one of attempted false pretences, was sentenced to three years’ hard labour on each, sentences to be concurrent.
