From Our Own Correspondent. At a public meeting held recently it was decided to form a golf club locallj and the very excellent nine-hole couise on the property of Mr. I>. Rowse has been generously loaned for playing puiposes. Enthusiasts deeply appreciate this privilege and on Saturday afternoon, in spite of a keen south-westerly wind, accompanied by occasional showers, the opening of tho new course was a very enjoyable function. Afternoon tea, provided by lady members, was served at the conclusion of the games. Mrs. W. J. Sargent, of Wellington, is on a. visit to Mrs. M. Sargent She is accompanied by her two daughters, Joan an MuclTregret is expressed at the departure from our midst of Mr. I. Graham who has occupied the position ol sole teacher at the local school for just over three years. During: that time Mr. Graham proved himself to be both a coinpent teacher and a good sport, being at all times willing to lend a, hand whenever his assistance was sought. AVe wish him success iii his new appointment in the Hunterville district. The vacancy has been temporarily Ailed by Miss Keanus.
