Mr. T. R. Barrcr, of Masterton, was last night elected unanimously chairman of tho Wellington Harbour Board. —Press Association.

Leave of absence was granted Mr. W. E. Ilopcroft, who is on holiday, from yesterday’s annual meeting of the Kairanga County Council. At the annual meeting of the Woodvillo County Council yesterday, the chairman (Mr. M. 0. Grainger) was unanimously re-elected for a further term on the motion of Cr. R. H. Morgan and Cr. 0. H. Druce.

Mr. Jos. Batchclar, a member of Hie Ivairanga County Council, was yesterday welcomed back to the annual meeting after his recent serious illness. Pleasure was expressed at his recovery and best wishes were voiced for his continued good health. Guests at the Hotel Imperial include Mr. A. J. Gray, Mr. T. 11. McLean (Gisborne); Mr. C. Wiggins, Mr. C. B. Donald, Air. J. Gorinby, Air. C. Akers, Air. Cliff Porter, Air. 11. 0. Bonakcr (Wellington); Airs. A. Swinbourne, Capt. Ford (Hastings); Air. C. Dormer (Fcilding); Air. J. Hascdono (Auckland); Air. J. B. Quirk (New Plymouth.) News was received yesterday that Air. John Aturrav, M.A., Rector of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, who has been laid asido with an attack of influenza in Dunedin, is much better and expects to return to Palmerston North on Saturday.
