Indian Brigands Escape From Prison
RIFLES AND AMMUNITION TAKEN United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright. Receivod Tuesday, 7.10 p.m. CALCUTTA, May 22. Led by Jagira, a notorious desperado, 27 men serving sentences for being armed brigands, daringly escaped from Faridkot State prison yesterday. Jagira was conversing with a Sikh sentry at the prison gate when he suddenly seized his long heard through the bars and pulled him to the ground, while others snatched the sentry’s keys and rifle and shot him dead. They then shot dead the prison arsenal sentry, looted 19 rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition, and fled into the jungle, pursued by large forces of police.
