“General John Regan” Will Appeal to Fans

COMING PICTURE “SHOT’' ALMOST ENTIRELY OUTDOORS “General John Regan,’’ Henry Edwards’ latest British and Dominions picture is an answer to those who say that not enough British films are made outdoors. It commences at the TJn lace theatre on Saturday. Henry Edward# something of a specialist in frwrti open-air subjects, as thoso who saw “The Flag Lieutenant” will agree, and his new film follovs in the tradition in that respect. The film centres upon life in a small Irish village, where tho leaders of society arc the butcher, the inkeeper, the newspaper proprietor, the local doctor and the local major—and their natural meeting place is the village square. Then the story culminates in a villago gala day, with processions and tableaux vivants and similar delights, so that once more the action is set in the openair. Much of the film was “shot” on the lot at the British and Dominion studios at Boreham Wood, Hertfordshire, where a set was built which comprised an entire main street of a typical Irish village. Since the film was made in August, and the summer of 1933 was extremely good, photographic conditions on this outdoors set remained excellent for a complete fortnight, thus lending notable aid to director Henry Edwards.
