Figures for the oversea trade of New Zealand (excluding specie) for the month of April and for the four months ended on April 30, were as follow, compared with the corresponding periods last year. In the case of imports the recorded value is given with the equivalent in New Zealand currency in parentheses; in the ease of exports and the balance the figures arc in terms of New Zealand currency. April, 1934.—Exports, £3,408,418; imports, £1,978,987 (£2,414,000); excess of exports, £2,994,000. April, 1933.—£3,494,041; £1,470,571 (£.1,803,000); £1,691,000. Four months ended April, 1934. £23,493,051; £7,933,159 (£9,685,000); £13,808,000. Four months ended April, 1933. £16,542,032; £6,973,898 (£5,519,000); £8,023,000... Four months ended April, 1932. — £15,905,272; £7,605,006 (£8,195,000); £7,710,000. The value of specie excluded from the above return was as follows: — Month of April, 1934: Exports, nil; imports, £101,200. Four months ended April, 1934: £373,000; £395,000. In the official statistics imports from Australia are recorded in terms of Australian currency and imports from other countries in sterling.
