An intense anti-cyclone extends across the Tasman Sea on to New Zealand, while the pressure remains low to eastward.

Winds: Moderate to strong southerly, gale force in places, especially along tho East Coast; decreasing to-morrow. Seas (New Zealand waters): Heavy between Akaroa and East Cape, rough elsewhere.

Weather: Mainly fair to fine in western and inland districts, elsewhere changeable and squally, with passing showers, improving to-morrow except on parts of the East Coast. Temperatures cold and frosts inland.
