The order of ' the ovents at the ■Wanganui winter meeting to-morrow, with the scheduled starting times, is as follows:12.0:'TriaVHack Handicap. 12.40: Winter Oats. 1.20: Grandstand Steeplechase. 2.5: Ealgownio Hack Handicap. 2.50: Century Hurdles. 3.35: Empire Hand:cup. 4.20: Borough Hack Handicap.

Betting System,

The single pool system of betting will be in operation, first and second dividends only, being paid. No matter low many horsos start- in a race no third dividend will bo paid.

WORK AT AWAPUNI.

WANGANUI CANDIDATES GALLOP

ON HEAVY TRACK.

The weather was fine for Tuesday’s trackwork at Awapuni but the tracks were heavy. The course proper was available for the gallops and the flags were about 20 feet out from the rails. The first horses to be speeded up -wore Currajong, Hauwai and Callamart, and they wore sent along over seven furlongs. Beginning smartly , Currajong took up the rolo of pacemaker. Hauwai and Callamart were never far away and they were on terms with the leader at the some turn. In a good finish Hauwai did best to lead from Callamart at the post, though there was little in it. The time was 1.39, the last five taking 1.10. Callamart is engaged in the Century Hurdles and .he should be in good fettle on Thursday. Senegal (W. «T. Broughton) had Tudor (R. Reed) as a companion over seven fnrlongs. Senegal hopped away at the seven furlong peg and was picked up by Tudor short of the six. They ■were together for the rest of the way, Senegal , who finished easily, .cutting the distanco out in 1.36. Both claim engagements at Wanganui, Tudor figuring in the Trial, Hack and Senegal in the Empire Handicap. Round Score (S. Anderson) and the Acre-Moutoa Ivanova gelding in Luke Wilson’s stable, which was ridden by Scobie, were galloped six furlongs, and there was little in it at the post after 1.24 spent on the journey. C. Thomson sent Riotous, the Steeplechase top-weight, over a couple of brush fences and then sprinted him six fur-, longs, Riotuous doing hie work well. He has plenty of weight, on Thursday but ho should give a good account of himself. _ Thrasher (K. Voitre and Te Rangitumau (G. Wynd) were companions over a mile. They began slowly but wero doing well over the last part of the journey, not being troubled to complete the distance in 1.56. They wero 00. terms nil tho way. Good Hunting (R. Reed) and Chief Marionette (W. J. Broughton) were sprinted five furlongs and they More doing it nicely at. the finish after requiring 52 2-5 for the last half mile. Good Hunting figures among the acceptors for the Winter Oats and he will bo ridden by R. Reed. ■*- Easterly (R. Chisholm), Ythan (P. Rae) and Boudoir (L. H. Jones) galloped a mile. Boudoir was tho pacemaker for the first five furlongs but the three-were in line crossing, the top for tho run down the homo stretch. There was .not much n it at the finish. Boudoir and - Easterly boeing in-line about a neck'in front of Ythan.. Thq time was T. 55 for the full distance and 1.12 for the .-first five. Easterly is m the Century Hurdles but no rider has been, engaged for her as yet.. Boudoir will be, ridden by . L. H. Jones m the Balgownie.. Flaxen and Sweet Music scampered over five furlongs .in ,1.9 and. they did particularly, well in the going, both galloping boldly. Bold. Jim (R. Roed) and Gran Chaco (R. Chisholm) were together after running six furlongs in 1.26. Gran Chaco was in front near tho post but Bold Jim made a dab to close the gap. Blacksmith (Reed) was galloped a mile and kept a-steady pace all the way, not being troubled to complete in 1.55. Riding Engagements The following riding engagements have boon announced for Thursday: E. Reed: Snowball, Good Hunting, Gal'sefton and Nightguard. Iv. Voitre: Lack, Red Rufus, Full Throttle and Windward. A. McDonald: Blacksmith. C. Thomson: Riotous, Callamart. L. H. Jones: Chopin, Moatoa, Boudoir. W. J. Broughton: Stitch, Artful Dodger.
