BOARD OP MANAGERS MONTHLY MEETING.
Mr. James Knight presided at the monthly meeting of the Board of Managers of the Feilding Agricultural High School, held on Wednesday evening. There wore also present:—Mrs J. E. Barltrop, Messrs.. .1. S. Tingey E. 11. Brewer, W. Salt, W.. W. Andrews, W. Ohallis, and the headmaster (Mr L. J. Wild). Arising out of the minutes of the previous meeting, in regard to the information asked for by Mr Salt concerning pupils attending the school from country districts by railway or bus and the charges thcroon, Mr Wild said the position, was as follows: —Five from Cheltenham pay Jos each for 20 school days; one from Stanway, 5s per week; two from Kiwitea, 15s for 2J school days; one from Kiwitea, 5s per week; one from Colyton, 2s 6d per Week: two from Makino, 5s per week. In addition to the, above thoro wore Hi pupils with free railway [asses, while .bn3 from Marlon had a season ticket at 15s per term. The buses had also given some
concession. ' The Department of Education wro.to notifying the board of a grant of £25 The Department of Education wrote, notifying the board of a grant of £25 for repairing earthquake damage to the chimneys a.t the school house.—Mr Wild reported that the chimney-tops had already been dismantled and would bo replaced with metal ones. The school council wrote pointing out the necessity for lockers being installed in the common room at the schoolhouse, there being no placo for the storage of the sports gear of the boys', playing games.—The headmaster said the lockers were undoubtedly required, the board without discussion authorising filr Wild to have them installed. Headmaster's Report. ! j Mt Wild reported as follows:—"The normal routine of school work has been I interrupted by giving the whole of this j week lo physical training. Next, week i the eighth annual show of the Young i Farmers’ Club will be held. We had a 5 'pleasant visit before Easter of a cricket jjteam from Scots College, but our win I was rather flattering. "Farm Report.—The wheat has been i threshed and sold. The yield is disj appointing, mainly due to the broken . weather at harvest time. About three--quarters of it has been sold as milling wheat. All live stock are doing well, and there is plenty of feed at present i and in sight. Steady progress is being made with tho replanning of fencing and the erection of gates. About 15 acres has been sown down in Italian ryegrass and red clover for temporary pasture.” | The report was adopted.
